Even for those who have mastered a second or third language, interpreting long, technical conversations in real time can be overwhelming. With different terms and nuances across dialects, grammar, and cultures, transcending language barriers takes a lot of thought and expertise. Even Google Translate suffers as you push the technology with deeper and longer exchanges.
We often text, but we mostly talk, and many of the conversations that spark new ideas are rich in context. What if contingencies of the languages we do or don't speak were no longer a blocker for these conversations? This is what led us to build Cuckoo.
The problem
While traditional interpreters bring great value, access to their services is often limited and requires extensive setup & preparation.
Finding an interpreter with the right background is time-consuming and requires multiple arrangements, and interpreters are strained to familiarize extremely niche terms and nuances within days, if not hours. Imagine the time it might take to prepare non-English interpretations. There’s also the added burden of setting up dedicated spaces and devices.

Cuckoo instantly adapts to the technical details and subtle nuances of your conversations and provides real-time translation in text & voice by leveraging the latest advancements in large language models (LLMs). Cuckoo uses a carefully tuned combination of the latest LLMs like OpenAI GPT, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, and Upstage Solar to learn the keywords and PDFs you input as you start your session.

We have already seen promising signs from our alpha users like Weights & Biases, the beloved AI & LLM development platform, which used Cuckoo for its first meetup in Seoul.
