Interpreting long, technical conversations in real time is hard, even for people fluent in a second or third language. Terms and nuances vary across dialects, grammar, and cultures, and carrying them across takes real expertise. Even Google Translate struggles as conversations get longer and more detailed.

We text often, but we mostly talk, and the conversations that spark new ideas are rich in context. What if the languages we do or don't speak no longer limited those conversations? That question led us to build Cuckoo.

The problem

Professional interpreters bring a lot of value, but they're hard to access and require extensive setup and preparation.

Finding an interpreter with the right background takes time and multiple arrangements. Interpreters then have days, sometimes only hours, to learn highly specialized terms and nuances, and preparing for languages other than English takes even longer. On top of that, teams need dedicated spaces and equipment.

Meet Cuckoo

Cuckoo is the easiest way to break down language barriers in context-rich conversations at events and meetings. It adapts to the technical details and subtle nuances of your conversation and provides real-time translation in text and voice, built on the latest large language models (LLMs). Cuckoo combines leading models, including OpenAI GPT, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, and Upstage Solar, to learn from the keywords and PDFs you add when you start a session.

Setup takes seconds. You can start broadcasting interpretation in three steps:

  1. Select your input and output languages.
  2. Add keywords or upload slides.

What's next

We designed Cuckoo to help teams and communities communicate fluently across languages, even in the most specialized conversations.

Early results from our alpha users are promising. Weights & Biases, the AI and LLM development platform, used Cuckoo for its first meetup in Seoul. Chris, Co-founder and CISO, and his team were impressed by the technical accuracy and natural phrasing of the interpretation, and used Cuckoo again for an event in Tokyo.
